There is a desire to access something greater than us, to give us guidance, to give us purpose. And whether you pray to the universe or to the Almighty God, thoughts and words are released. So whatever you may call it…

  • Prayer

  • Manifestation

  • Communication with the Universe

  • Meditation

  • Energy

There is a wisdom that looks outside of oneself for the answer. We regularly call on a greater power to give direction.

Consider the following cries for knowledge and understanding…

However, let’s dwell for a moment on Christian prayers. In general, these prayers tend to hover over the needs of the moment. This cry for wisdom may only serve as a concern for happiness and comfort. While these are not terrible things to desire and ask for, prayers to God include so much more than that.

But how do we discover the wisdom of prayer? We read in the gospel account that even Christ’s closest followers innately didn’t know how to pray…

What do the disciples ask Jesus?

Our common prayers tend to center around one petition. “Give us this day our daily bread.” Please give me what I need to make it through the day, week, month. However, both the Lord’s Prayer given by Jesus and the prayers of the Old Testament invite us to experience the variety of prayer. There are many different ways and purposes to speaking to an Almighty power that is so much greater and wiser than we will ever be.

They give us a breath and depth to our own prayers. And how are they taught to us? From every situation from every aspect. The prayers are deep and long and wide, so that our perspective changes. It is not our words that seek to change God, rather God’s word (in our mouth by our prayer) changes us.
