YHWH, WHO shall stay in your tent? WHO shall live on your holy hill?
Who is worthy to be in your presence? To walk into your sanctuary? To expect good from you? Who can stand up to your laws and your timing? Who can understand your creation? Who can actually get you to answer when I ask and cry and plead for your help? Is there anyone that can be close to you?
One who walks blamelessly. One who does right. One who speaks truth in his heart:
Of course, I already know the answer. The good, the blameless, the ONE who loves and does everything you command. That is the ONE who can expect to be close to you.
Speaking the truth, in word and deed, inside and outside. Every second of every day, meditating on your words, YHWH, and not my own. The is the ONE that will be safe next to you.
He does not slander with his tongue He does no evil to his friend He does not chew out his neighbor.
In thought and action, he is not just good for himself! This ONE protects his neighbor, helps in every circumstance. Does no evil, says no evil. Upholds the good and perfect truth that you love, YHWH.
And honestly, truthfully. This righteous ONE is not me. I have not protected those who need me. I have not always spoken in the best way behind my neighbors back and to her face. I have forgotten your truth from time to time to follow my heart. I certainly have walked myself into terrible situations, away from you. And the worst part is, I have enjoyed the wayward journey. And I will likely do it all over again.
He is deposed in his own eyes - rejected But the One who fears YHWH, he honors.
I hate who I am sometimes. I despise and reject myself. Yet, even my guilt and realization doesn’t change this fact: I am not holy. I am not worthy. I am not the one that can live in your presence. I am not the ONE.
