Do you know what Bible you are reading? Why are there so many different versions of God’s Word? Is one better than another? Even though the words are different, are they all right? We should consider some questions about WHAT our Bible is, to know how to read it better.
The challenge with the Bible its that it has not been written in our time or to us. There are many years, much time and distance between when it was written and when we receive it here in our culture and our world. We struggle with cultural differences, non-literal language, poetics and prophetic references that impact what the original writer is attempting to communicate to the reader. The Bible did not just fall out of the sky from God written in the English language. So in the first place one must ask some questions about how we have come up with THIS BIBLE.
